DAN (Divers Alert Network)

America provides two separate but complementary benefits:

1. DAN Membership

A DAN membership gives divers access to:

  • 24/7 Emergency Hotline
  • Emergency medical transportation assistance
  • Travel assistance services
  • Access to dive safety resources and medical consultations

Important: DAN membership alone does not pay medical bills from a diving accident.

 

2. DAN Dive Accident Insurance

This insurance is specifically designed for scuba divers and helps cover expenses resulting from diving injuries, including:

  • Decompression sickness (DCS)
  • Arterial gas embolism (AGE)
  • Barotrauma injuries
  • Hyperbaric chamber treatments
  • Hospital and physician charges
  • Ground, air, or sea ambulance transportation

How a Claim Works

If a diver has an accident:

  3. DAN helps coordinate medical care, evacuation, and treatment if necessary.
  4. The diver submits a claim for covered expenses.
